Roses are Red, Violets are Blue
There are only 70 more days until your individual taxes are due! It’s time to ask yourself these questions:
Tax Season Survival Guide
This guide is a great start to help you feel more confident this tax season, but I’ve got A LOT more value to add than just this freebie.
Our Guide to 1099s
Whether it’s your first year filing 1099s or you’re a seasoned pro, it’s always a good idea to refresh your knowledge and ensure you’re keeping up with the ever-changing requirements. SO, WHAT IS A 1099?
Thankful for YOU!
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported Every Penny Bookkeeping this year! Your referrals are the BIGGEST compliment.
Here’s what you need to do this month for your taxes
If you haven’t filed your tax return by the due date, you may be subject to this penalty. Per the IRS, this penalty is 5% of the unpaid taxes for each month or part of a month that a tax return is late for up to a maximum of 25% of your unpaid taxes.
Ready To Tackle Your Extended Tax Returns?
September means the kids are settling back into school, football season is kicking off, and you’ve got some pretty important tax deadlines coming up! Let’s go over what’s due:
TTYL, Summer!
It’s super depressing that summer’s coming to an end (but maybe not so sad that the kids are going back to school!). If you’re anything like me, you’re already looking forward to the extra time to plan your fall marketing campaign. Here are some marketing expenses your business might be able to deduct:
Red, White, and No Summer Blues Here
This month’s freebie offers support for all of the DIY bookkeepers out there. While you won’t have to worry about any of this when you work with a professional bookkeeper, it’s imperative that your books are reconciled on a regular basis no matter who’s doing it!
Father’s Day Is Just Around The Corner
And if your dad is anything like mine was, he was known for puttering around the pool every weekend in the summer, killing any bugs you’re too scared to touch, and teaching invaluable life lessons.
It’s Gonna Be an a-MAY-zing Month!
Especially since it includes National Small Business Day (mark your calendars for May 10th!). Our specialty is getting you back to yours, and I want to take a moment to highlight some of the ways I love to do that:
Eclipses, Brackets, and Estimated Taxes
If you aren’t sure whether you’re going to be able to get your return(s) filed in time, you should file for an automatic extension. If you aren’t working with a tax accountant who can file an extension on your behalf, check out IRS Free File to file an extension for free regardless of your income level.
It’s Officially Time To Talk Taxes!
Did you know that not everyone is required to file their taxes? Your filing requirement is based on factors like your gross income, age, dependent status, earned and unearned income, and how much you make if you’re self-employed.
You may be wondering why I’m telling you this… don’t I want you to file a tax return?
Have you gotten your W-2?
Whether you receive a W-2 from an employer or a 1099 to show your income, you should be receiving those documents in the mail soon. But… what if your W-2 never shows up? Here’s what to do:
New Year, New Tax Changes!
I hope you enjoyed your time off for the holidays this year because we’re about to dive head-first into tax talk. Was your New Year’s Resolution to be more educated when it comes to taxes? Start with these IRS inflation adjustments:
It’s fa-la-la Finally December!
This time of year can be incredibly stressful between year-end closing (keep reading for a handy checklist) and navigating the holiday season… so I’m going to make sure this email gets straight to the point!
Can You Believe It’s Already November?!
Getting into the spirit of a month that’s all about thankfulness, I want to take a moment to express how grateful I am for each one of you! THANK YOU for your support of my small business.
It’s Fall, Y’all!
Can you believe we’re officially starting the fourth quarter of 2023?! Around the office at Evert Penny Books, October brings prepping for the upcoming tax deadlines and the start of planning for year-end.
Wake Me Up, When September Ends
Did you extend your taxes back in April and then kind of just forget about your taxes for 5 months?! Consider this your wake-up call to start thinking about them again!
Hello, August!
Summer is slowly coming to an end, and here at Every Penny Bookkeeping we’re gearing up for a new school year! August brings National Financial Awareness Day which aligns perfectly with our mission.
Sun, Sand, and Summer Side Hustles!
Am I the only one who thinks of their next big business idea when I’m on vacation?
Summer always seems to inspire new entrepreneurs, so whether you’re new to being self-employed or a business pro, make sure you can answer these questions when starting a new business:
Ready for summer time?!
You might be a *little* less excited when I remind you that estimated taxes for Q2 are due this month.
Who has to pay? Per the IRS, individuals generally have to make estimated tax payments if they expect to owe tax of $1,000 or more when their return is filed.
MAYbe it’s time to take a month off…
Feeling beat after tax season? You’re not alone! After busy season, I’m simply in my less-busy season!
Over the next few months, I’ll be taking on new clients, adjusting my working hours, and enjoying some much needed time off.
No April Fools jokes here, it’s tax time!
Aside from year-end, tax time is one of the most stressful times for business owners. But, you don’t have to do it all alone!
Spring Is Just Around The Corner
If you own a Partnership or an S-Corporation, your taxes are due on March 15th!
